About Us
Hobart OK is a small, rural hometown with a diverse population of around 3,300 rooted deep with history, celebrating its 125th birthday in August 2026. We are the seat of Kiowa County and home to the Hobart Bearcats.
We house the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute & Museum as well as the Kiowa County Historical Museum. The Tommy Franks Museum highlights the extensive career of General Tommy Franks and offers visitors a glimpse into military life over decades of service. The Kiowa County Museum pays tribute to the origin of our hometown and state, the beginnings of farming, and the reliance of railroad systems to the success of the Midwest. Hobart is still a farming and ranching community with an active stockyards, feed lot, co-op, and railway.
Our town square holds the county courthouse surrounded by local small-town businesses and restaurants. Our courthouse, post office, fire station, and theatre buildings are the largest of many historical structures around the square. The active Shortgrass Playhouse sits above the fire station, and local volunteers and actors put on four shows a year, drawing an audience from across the region.
The City owns multiple parks and a golf course. Our parks are supported by our local civic organizations and provide many outdoor activity options. Our largest park, Hunter Park, includes a small lake offering fishing, play, picnic, and walking trail opportunities. Other parks offer swimming, skating, disc golf, basketball, baseball, and softball.
Hobart is the perfect place to celebrate and honor 250 years of America as its 125-year history is visible in everyday life even today.
